Dr. Debbie Forbath Kendrick’s living room features a hand-painted razorback stool. She has other Hogg memorabilia, but this item is special because she collected it last year through an ASPSF online auction.
“It’s one of my favorite things!” she said.
The stool’s artist is none other than ASPSF staff member Arlene Green, and Debbie is challenging her to create something new for the next auction this fall. The Funds For Futures online auction will run from October 12th to 27th, with more unique items and services up for bid.
Debbie has been donating to ASPSF since 2020 by participating in raffles and auctions. Although she enjoys finding something unique, she also strategically attends these events because she knows they translate directly into single parent scholarships.
Debbie served as the dynamic director of the Crawford County Adult Education Center for 17 years and has been a passionate advocate for education for 42 years. She first heard about ASPSF in the late 1980s, and it is one of the many resources she shares with students at the center.
Recently, the center helped single parents earn their GED, start a new job, and plan to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 2025.
Debbie supports ASPSF because its mission aligns so closely with that of her personal life.
“I think it’s important that everyone is a servant,” she said. “In my heart, I think that’s what I have to do. I care about people, I want to help people, I want to see them succeed. Because it is.”
